Great News! We’ve rescued two new circus elephants, Mia and Sita from Tamil Nadu who are currently traveling in India’s first modern custom designed elephant ambulance. It will take them a couple of days to reach their new home, the Elephant Conservation and Care Center, in Mathura as they cover over 2,100 kms from Tiruvannamalai in Tamil Nadu along with our expert paramedics and rescue team !
You can help us by donating for the rehabilitation and lifetime care of these two girls HERE.

We will have more details to share in the coming days, as we post updates on Mia & Sita’s journey on this blog and on Facebook.. So stay tuned and keep checking in!

UPDATE – Nov 23rd, 11 am IST: The elephants have been safely boarded the truck and have begun their journey to ECCC, Mathura.

UPDATE – Nov 23rd, 6pm IST: The caravan has entered the state of ‪Andhra Pradesh‬ and have covered almost 600 km till now. Our rescued elephant, Sita is showing her excitement by waving out to everyone happily from her truck.

UPDATE – Nov 25th, 3 am IST: No road trip is complete without tasty snacks, and Mia and Sita just enjoyed a feast of sugarcanes thanks to a pit stop at a sugarcane factory. The farmers willingly donated some sugarcanes after seeing the two girls. The convoy is now 150 km away from Nagpur and will drive the whole night through.

UPDATE – Nov 25th, 2 pm IST: The convoy is now 100 kms away from Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh and the staff just loaded some fresh leaves for the girls on the truck for the journey ahead.

UPDATE – Nov 25th, 6 pm IST: “Hello fellow earthlings! Are you the ones who helped rescue me?”
Looks like Mia is having a great road trip and sniffing around curiously, while our staff tends to her foot wounds. The convoy is now 400 kms away from Jhansi.

UPDATE – Nov 25th, 11:30 pm IST: We were really concerned about how well Sita was going to tolerate the long journey to her new home. We have been pleasantly surprised to see that she seems to be enjoying the journey and waving her trunk at people passing by.

UPDATE – Nov 26th, 2:30 pm IST: Less than 24 hours for our girls to reach the  Elephant Conservation and Care Centre  in Mathura. In the meantime, we caught our darling Sita being pampered and fed Papayas by our veterinarian on the way. She really seems to like them. 🙂
