Today is World Animal Day, which celebrates the feast day of St Francis of Assisi, patron saint of the animals, environment and stowaways.   He was born as Giovanni Francesco, and he is a historical character from the 13th Century known for his love and dedication toward animals.  He called all creatures his brothers and sisters and was known to have a special relationship with all animals.  He was a good example of how to share the world with other species.
A large part of our crime prevention work is raising public awareness about how to live in close contact with wild animals.  Francis’ love and care for nature serves as a reminder to all of us that we need to work in harmony with nature and consider what we are leaving to future generations.  Today, World Animal Day is celebrated around the world with events taking place in over 66 countries of the world and several taking place across India.  Find out if an event is taking place near you.  If not, do something good for animals today.   You can make a donation in support of our work or somebody else helping animals in your community.  So let’s all go out and do something good for the beautiful species we share this planet with.
