Jaswant Singh has been working with Wildlife SOS for a decade now. He works as an Assistant Accountant and is a remarkable member of our team. Recently we met up with him to know more about his interest and role in the organization.
How did you get interested in working with Wildlife SOS?
I’ve been fond of animals all my life. Before joining this organization, I was closely involved with our sister organization, Friendicoes, and loved the work it was doing. This built a passion inside me to work with an NGO like Wildlife SOS.
Do you ever work directly with animals?
Yes, apart from handling the accounts division I was also sometimes called to rescue animals. I still remember as if it were yesterday, we received a rescue call regarding an 11 foot python in IIT, New Delhi for which I coordinated with the rescue team and successfully rescued the snake.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
As I mentioned earlier, I was called for rescue operations as well. It always feels good to help an animal in distress which is what I respect and admire about this organization. We help animals on the longest scale imaginable.
You have been with the organization for a long time. What have you observed to be the biggest changes?
I have seen Wildlife SOS grow from a small group of people working in unison towards one goal and handling everything to an organization expanding far and wide with a superb international support with numerous semi-independent project centres all over the country.
When you are not working, what do you like to do?
I enjoy playing cricket with my buddies. I also like to travel and explore adventurous places. I play cricket every Sunday but travelling is becoming a dream!
