Wildlife SOS’ initiative of “Ele Earth Walk” went completely hand-in-hand with this Wildlife Walkathon as a way to not only show appreciation for India’s wildlife but also to spread awareness about our wild neighbours. The walk started from the Police Golf Course to Nishat in the outskirts of Srinagar. People from all over the country took part in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

The walk covered a total distance of 5 kilometers and people from all walks of life participated with utmost enthusiasm and charisma. Their sheer will power to participate for such a cause motivated everyone present during the walk. From young children to school and college-going students, as well as their parents and grandparents, everyone could be seen with a smile on their face, inspired to finish the walk.

The outcome for the walkathon left us mesmerized. Over 4000 participants from across the country joined hands and walked together for a mission. The mission to save India’s wildlife and this reason alone motivated everyone to make a difference. The main purpose of this walkathon which was started by the Jammu and Kashmir Wildlife Department was to be able to spread awareness about the many cruel realities of wild animals in our country and how majority of the people present here are unaware of these problems. Through this walkathon, we found a way to showcase the importance of wildlife while simultaneously taking an active part in changing the current situation.
