In a first-of-its-kind public-private partnership (PPP) model, the Agra Development Authority and the Agra District Administration partnered with Wildlife SOS and launched ‘The Human Primate Conflict Mitigation Project’ in 2015 to tackle the exploding population of rhesus macaques in the city of Agra. The main objective was to capture and sterilise rhesus monkeys in troops from the high intensity conflict areas of Agra and release the animals back into the very same area.
