Job Summary: The Communications Manager is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive communication strategy that effectively communicates the organization’s objectives, values, and brand to external and internal stakeholders. The Communications Manager will manage a team of communication professionals to ensure consistent messaging across all channels and ensure that all communication initiatives align with the organization’s goals and objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy that effectively communicates the organization’s objectives, values, and brand to external and internal stakeholders.
Manage a team of communication professionals to ensure consistent messaging across all channels.
Planning the timing and nature of content for the website. Liaise directly with colleagues to design and develop content based on engagement objectives and strategic communications priorities.
Work with other departments to identify communication needs and develop appropriate messaging.
Brainstorm new ways to better engage supporters and boost metrics.
Suggest possible social media fundraising strategies using new/existing platform tools.
Suggest content strategies and campaigns to Communications team.
Develop key performance indicators for measuring the success of the communication efforts.
Reviewing newsletters and press releases: you supervise all internal and external communications channels. That means you have to write press releases, newsletters and brochures or review content written by the communications team to ensure it resonates with the brand message. You also approve all media-related documents.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with media outlets, key stakeholders, and other relevant organizations.
Marketing planning, budgeting, roll-out, tracking, and executive reporting with actionable insights
Monitor and measure the effectiveness of communication strategies and adjust as needed.
Manage the digital marketing strategy, lead, manage, and train digital marketing team, assigning projects and monitoring deadlines.
Expanding our reach within print/ digital media and garnering new contacts every week
Work in the field and at the centers to gain a better understanding of operations with an objective to create stories and content for media, press & for blogs.
Develop and maintain crisis communication plans and protocols.
Managing crisis communications, including preparing statements and coordinating media responses during emergencies or other critical incidents.
Maintain donor relationships with donors & regularly update them with reports and content.
Research, development and editing for blogs, articles, animal updates, newsletter and other written communication products.
Setting a monthly target for you and your team and achieving the same each month
Monitoring the company’s digital platforms, need to oversee the content on digital platforms managed by the organization. To check the website and social media accounts to ensure the content aligns with established brand guidelines.
Provide leadership and guidance on communication best practices to other departments.
Create a training document for new recruits joining Wildlife SOS
Participating in relevant events including exhibitions, awareness programs etc.
Serve as the organization’s spokesperson when needed.
Reports to the Director and Co-Founders
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field.
Need to be an expert copyeditor
Minimum of 5 years of experience in communications, public relations, or related field.
Demonstrated experience developing and implementing successful communication strategies.
Excellent writing skills with an ability to write in different styles and voices.
Strong leadership and management skills.
Significant experience working as a media officer, or a senior PR executive actively promoting stories to the media and dealing with enquiries from journalists.
Experience of preparing spokespeople (e.g., Chief Executive, Directors and local groups) for media interviews.
Ability to work collaboratively with other departments and stakeholders.
Experience managing a team of communication professionals.
Strong knowledge of media relations and crisis communication.
Strong knowledge of social media platforms, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook etc.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to conceptualise, create and deliver an organisational communications strategy
Good communication and presentation skills.
Well-developed prioritizing skills, and the ability to work to tight media and internal deadlines.
A collaborative and teamwork-oriented mindset.
Exceptional judgement and analytical skills and experience of applying these in a fast-moving environment.
Knowledge of photo or video editing software is an added advantage.
