With care and medical treatments, Kabilan’s health improved and his muzzle healed as well. | READ MORE ABOUT KABILAN
KABILAN'S STORY
Kabilan was only 18 months old when he was rescued from a Kalandar settlement in Uttar Pradesh. The young cub suffered from prolonged malnutrition and weakness, and was found emaciated. He was also enduring agonising pain due to a muzzle infection he had acquired. This infection was caused by the constant tugging of the rope that was pushed through a hole pierced in his delicate muzzle.
The first step to his road to recovery was the removal of the harsh rope from his infected muzzle. Our expert veterinarians took over by providing him with careful treatment. His muzzle healed well, and Kabilan gained great strength too. He is friendly, playful and most importantly, a happy bear.
An active bear, Kabilan can barely be seen lazing around. Climbing trees and digging mud pits are what keep him busy all day. He is on good terms with all the bears in his enclosure, but spends most of his time with Kanmani. He loves being treated to watermelons, coconuts and peanuts, which reflects his love for food. He is exceptionally excited when it comes to receiving delicious dates. Kabilan can also be seen playing with structural enrichments such as the honey-smeared logs, which he is seen running off with!
