JENNY'S STORY
In the quiet forests of Madhya Pradesh, a tiny sloth bear cub was rescued by the forest department after her mother sustained grave injuries. Despite their best efforts, the mother sadly passed away, leaving the cub traumatised and distressed, showing signs of digestive issues and weakness. While the Forest Department provided her with extensive care, they ultimately decided to transfer Jenny to Wildlife SOS’s Agra Bear Rescue Facility for the specialised neonatal care she required. Jenny weighed just about 5 kg when she arrived at our centre, where our veterinary team immediately began a carefully monitored care regimen.
The bear gradually gained strength under gentle care. The playful early riser begins her day with enrichments that have been specially designed for her. She tosses around bouncy balls, retrieves delicious treats hidden within her puzzle feeder, and can be seen rolling around on her hammock, too. While these enrichments help her to channel her energy and remain cheerful, the caregiving team is also providing her with a carefully charted out nutritious diet to sustain her growth and development. Jenny has formed a bond of affection with her caregiver and can often be heard greeting him with squeaky calls!
