Rama’S STORY

Rama was separated from his family at a young age to serve as ‘begging’ elephant. He was forced to walk on narrow streets and was constantly surrounded by the dust and dirt. In addition to this, he was also used as a prop for entertainment in wedding processions.

When Rama arrived at the Wildlife SOS Elephant Hospital Campus, it was evident that he was severely malnourished and dehydrated as he had a bony frame. He was bound by heavy spiked shackles that punctured his ankles and legs, leaving deep wounds in his skin.

Rama has welcomed his new life at the Elephant Hospital Campus where a dedicated team of veterinary staff along with caregivers are providing him with nutritious diet, medical treatment and a safe and nurturing environment to heal in.
