It has been almost 6 months since you made it possible for us to rescue Raju. We wanted to give you an update on how he is doing.
Many of the dozens of wounds that were covering his body have healed. He still has a large one on his front leg that has not completely healed, but has closed about 50%.
The medical issue that is the most challenging is that he continues to have difficulties with his right hind leg. He has swelling in the leg and has difficulty bearing weight on it. He is receiving pain relief for this issue. We continue to give him the best care that we can possibly give and we are regularly consulting with national and international experts on his behalf. Because of his age and because many of his problems were chronic, it will take longer for him to bounce back. This is not a short process. Many of our elderly and severely debilitated elephants like ‘Bhola’ have taken many months if not years to be rehabilitated.
However long it takes, and with your help, we will continue to give Raju all we can to make him healthy and happy.
We will continue to keep you updated on his progress as his journey continues
