Two cobras rescued from CWG 2010 gates no 1 and 2 . A call was received at the Wildlife SOS CWG Helpline at 21:10 Hrs from the CWG control room and the Wildlife SOS team reached the location in about 20 minutes.

Both snakes rescued were spectacled cobras and were removed safely from under the police barriers from the gates where the police and the CWG control room staff had cordoned the area off to ensure safety of the sports persons. The CWG OC has tied up with Delhi based NGO – Wildlife SOS to handle snake and wildlife calls during the CWG period. Wildlife SOS has set up an exclusive helpline for the CWG 9971699727.

Kartick Satyanarayan, co founder Wildlife SOS “The CWG OC has been very visionary in planning the deployment of Snake and Wildlife Rescue Units of Wildlife SOS on a round the clock basis. We have four dedicated teams and our vehicles have been permitted to use the CWG lane which enables us to respond to these calls immediately.”

Just as we were removing one cobra, the CWG security personnel informed us about a second cobra at another gate, so we rescued both snakes. said Arshad Khan – Wildlife SOS Rescue Unit Team member
