WSOS Co-Founder honored as TED India Fellow!

Kartick at TEDWildlife SOS Co-Founder & Chairman Kartick Satyanarayan was recently honored as a Ted India Fellow for his outstanding contribution in the field of environmental activism and wildlife conservation especially the rescue and rehabilitation of the “Dancing Bears of India” and the Kalandar community.

TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 25 years ago, TED has grown to support those world-changing ideas with multiple initiatives. The annual TED Conference invites the world’s leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes. Their talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Al Gore, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani and lots of other emminent personalities from all over the world. TED Global is held each year in Oxford, UK.

This year organizers of the TED Conference brought 103 TED India Fellows to Mysore, India, to participate in TED India, the first-ever TED in Asia. Wildlife S.O.S. Co founder & Chairman Kartick Satyanarayan is now one of the 103 extraordinary individuals to join the TED Fellows Programe! TED India, “The Future Beckons,” took place from Nov. 4-7, at the high-tech campus of Infosys Technologies Ltd. The TED India Fellows are a diverse group of men and women, representing not only India, Pakistan and Bangladesh but also Indonesia, Canada, Tajikistan, the United States, China, Nigeria and Oman. TED India Fellows include engineers, environmental scientists and pollution experts, human-rights activists, musicians, athletes and filmmakers. All are committed to the spread of great ideas.

“As the world’s influence moves to the East, the TED India Fellows program is proud to showcase the work of 103 visionaries born or working in South Asia, especially in India, but also in Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and the rest of the world,” says Tom Reilly, TED Fellows Director and TED Community Director.

According to Kartick Satyanarayan “By being a part of this program, I will now be able to interact with world-changing innovators around the globe, become part of the TED community and, with its help, amplify the impact of Wildlife SOS’s projects and activities. Wildlife SOS shall be able to generate awareness about its work amongst other TED Fellows who come from many disciplines like technology, entertainment, design, the sciences, the humanities, the arts, NGOs, business and more.
