It’s not everyday that an evening turns out to be loads of fun, great food and an opportunity to see the intelligentsia of Delhi society, its who’s who (and not to miss the remarkable Chief Minister of Delhi – Smt. Shiela Dixit,) all relaxed and upbeat. And it’s not everyday that the evening also brings forth a national award for Environment Activism to Wildlife SOS.
Wildlife S.O.S received the first Planman Media Award for Environmental Activism and the award was received by its Co founder & Chairman Kartick Satyanarayan. The award recognized Wildlife SOS and its team for its contribution in the field of environmental activism and wildlife conservation including rescue and rehabilitation of Dancing Bears and the Kalandar community. Members of the Wildlife SOS team present at the event were Geeta Seshamani, Tandrali Kuli, Cara Tejpal, Siddarth Edake and Praveen.
The award was presented in a prestigious ceremony at the Royal Ballroom in the Imperial Hotel and was hosted by Mr.Arindam Chaudhury of IIPM & the Sunday Indian fame. It was a star studded affair graced by luminaries like Shiela Dikshit, Salman Khursheed, author and journalist Tarun Tejpal, actor Arjun Rampal, artist Anjolie Ela Menon, ex-cricketer Bishen Singh Bedi and environment film makers the bedi brothers and during the evening, The rock band Euphoria and Palash Sen sang up a storm!
According to Kartick Satyanarayan “This award is indeed a great honor but I would like to dedicate this award to the wonderful people on my team, the rescuers in each state, the vets and keepers, the staff at WSOS, the field staff in several states, each of them is special, working hard and with commitment and of course our partners whose invaluable support makes all this possible. Indian Wildlife can do with all the publicity that it can garner and the environment will benefit from such awards and recognitions”
The Hon’ble Chief Minister Mrs.Sheila Dixit congratulated Wildlife SOS on receiving the award.
