DOLLY'S STORY
Dolly was about five years old when she was brought to the Bannerghatta Bear Rescue Centre after being rescued from the ‘dancing’ bear practice. Like other captive bears, she was stressed and displayed signs of stereotypy with the aggressive swaying of her head. Her coat was coarse and matted as a result of neglect and lack of proper nutrition. Our veterinarians charted out a diet plan and provided Dolly with required supplements to improve her deplorable condition. She was showered with gentle and affectionate care that helped Dolly to heal mentally, and she also developed a strong bond of trust with her caregivers.
The active bear indulges in playful wrestling with her enclosure mates, and even plays games of hide-and-seek! Dolly leads a healthy and happy life. She is often seen climbing structural enrichments delightfully and basking in the sun.
