Located in Agra, adjacent to our bear rescue centre, is a piece of land we call Elephant Conservation and Care Center. There, several elephants who used to spend their days doing hard work in often harsh conditions, are living out their retirement years in peace and safety. No longer forced to bear heavy loads, or walk on hot pavement, these majestic creatures are finally able to spend their days happily, with frequent baths, a nutritious diet, and good veterinary care.
Just so that we are able to help even more captive elephants, the Ch. Surinder Singh Elephant Rehabilitation Centre (ERC) was set up at Ban Santour, Yamunanagar, Haryana and is a project undertaken by the Haryana Forest Department, Govt. of Haryana in collaboration with Wildlife SOS with support from Ministry Of Environment and Forests (MoEF) under centrally sponsored scheme, “Project Elephant”. This center, which covers 400 acres of land provides a much needed sanctuary for abused, exploited, sick and handicapped elephants requiring retirement, convalescence and medical care.
Certain other components of the Elephant center such as man power, veterinary staff, elephant keepers etc require us to raise funds.
If you would like to help us rescue elephants, and bring them to the sanctuary for retirement and good care, please make a donation today. Thank you.
