We’re happy to announce Jane Velez-Mitchell as your host for the evening!

Jane Velez-Mitchell is a television and social media journalist and author. She is the founder of #JaneUnChained, a digital news network for animal rights and vegan lifestyle which uses more than 60 volunteer contributors from around the world to showcase vegan festivals, animal rights conferences, organizations, vegan restaurants and cooking.

For six years she hosted her own show on HLN, Jane Velez-Mitchell (formerly known as Issues with Jane Velez-Mitchell). She is often seen commenting on high-profile cases for CNN, TruTV, E! and other national cable TV shows.

Back again for an entertaining, live-painting performance, is the talented Amy Burkman! 

Amy Burkman is a live art entertainer, muralist, animal lover, philanthropist and a cancer survivor. As a commissioned artist, Amy’s portfolio includes personal portraits, pet portraits, landscape and realism pieces, caricatures and abstract imagery. Although she takes pride in her personal artwork, above all Amy strives to use her creative passions to help others. Her motto is “Art with Heart” and in her experience using art alongside business and social initiatives can help raise money to benefit communities all around the world. Amy raises money for organizations including animal rescue groups, cancer research, children’s hospitals, and many others. And finally, our musical entertainment for this evening will be performed by Rex Dean!

Rex Dean has performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival, for Princess Grace, Leonard Bernstein, and Ella Fitzgerald, among others. He founded the Jazz for Life concert series for Oxfam as an undergrad at Harvard, and has emceed and performed in over a hundred concerts. He recently had the lead in a summer-stock production of “Kiss Me Kate” opposite Tony-nominated Marla Schaffel, and performed the Peter Lorre character in a staged reading of “The Maltese Falcon” with Tree People in Coldwater Canyon. He is in the middle of finishing his first feature film as writer/director, a 35mm kids sci-fi comedy called “Space Baby”, after which he’ll record his first album of original songs. Having grown up on a foothills ranch in Colorado, he is an avid nature and animal lover.
